GoBus.ie Joins Drive to Support Stroke Survivors!

GoBus.ie has joined the drive by Galway’s heart & stroke charity Croi to provide support services for stroke survivors once they leave hospital.

An estimated 1 in 6 Irish people will suffer a stroke in their lifetime, a third of which will occur before the age of 65. A stroke is when the blood flow to a part of the brain is stopped either by a blockage or a burst blood vessel in the brain. The impact of a stroke can be devastating and remains the biggest cause of acquired disability across the world and the third biggest cause of death. The good news is that in recent years there have been major advances in the treatment of stroke and much can be done to improve the quality of life for those affected by stroke.

In Galway, Croi are working to improve stroke outcomes by supporting stroke survivors and carers once they leave hospital. This week, GoBus.ie have pledged their support for this important work by presenting Croi with a cheque in the amount of €3,000. Speaking at the presentation, Dara Burke, GoBus.ie Transport Manager said “ as a Galway company we are delighted to give something back to the local community by supporting the great work of Croi. Earlier this year, we were also delighted to team up with Croi in providing transport for their Stroke Support Group annual summer outing.
